There is a feature in the News Article/Blog/Presentation module that allows you to partition off Articles to a certain group of users. In this KB we'll use the Registered User group. lets say we have an article or multiple article that we only want registered users to have access to. Here is the procedure to so so.

  1. First click the login button to you website. Note the address in your browsers address bar, it should look similiar to this :http://www.example.com/Home/ctl/Login?returnurl=%2f. Copy only the portion that is before the question mark and save that to Notepad for the time being. It should now look like this: http://www.example.com/Home/ctl/Login. Then complete your Login.
  2. Navigate to the page where your News Article module is located.
    1. Note: if your News page is private, or only accessible to a certain group already, you can now make that page public if you wish.
  3. Click on the "Admin Option", then Main Options. Scroll down to the "Security Setting" node and expand it.
  4. At this point you can add any group you'd like to require Login to view your Articles, as stated earlier, I'm choosing Registered Users (see attached image.) So the registered User check-box is selected, meaning all other users will be required to login to view the articles I have secured.
  5. At the bottom of the settings, paste your website login address in the "Secure URL" box.
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the Admin Option page and select "Update".
  7. To secure an existing article, navigate to the Article Page and select the edit pencil next to one of you articles.
  8. Scroll down to the "Publish" section of the Article editor page and note the "Secure" check-box. (See attached image).Select that check-box, the select "Update" to re-post the article.
  9. Now, if you log-out and try to access that article, it will redirect you to the Login page. After logging in, you will be redirect back to the news.
Two things to note
  •  Article left unsecured will be visible to the public
  • If you are an NDD client and you have a great number of Articles, contact us we can change there secure status in mass for you in your database.
