To Use Mozilla Thunderbird with Your Email

  1. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings.
  2. From the Account Actions menu, select Add Mail Account.
  3. Complete the following fields, and then click Continue.
    Your name
    The name to display on your email
    Email address
    Your email address
    Password
    Your email account password
  4. Click Stop, complete the following fields, and then click Re-test Configuration:
    Username
    Enter your full email address.
    Incoming and Outgoing
    Enter your mail server, select the server type, enter your server port (detailed below), and select the encryption method.
    Your server port varies depending on the server type and whether or not you select to use encryption.
    Server Port
    IMAP without SSL - 143
    IMAP with SSL - 993
    POP without SSL - 110
    POP with SSL - 995
    SMTP without SSL - one of the following: 25, 80, 3535
    SMTP with SSL - 465
  5. Click Create Account.
  6. Click OK.


Configuring Mozilla® Thunderbird® to Use a Secure Connection (SSL) for Email Messages

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Account Settings and select your email account from the list.
  2. Select Server Settings from the folder list below your email account and make the following changes:
    Server Port
    IMAP - 993
    POP - 995
    Use secure connection
    Select SSL
  3. Click OK.
  4. Select Outgoing Server (SMTP) from the folder list below the new account and make the following changes:
    Server Port
    465
    Use secure connection
    Select SSL
  5. Click OK.
