The Pages Admin is a new tool provided by dnnWerks and has great advantages over the "stock" DNN Pages module found in your websites Admin menu. It simplifies pages administration in your website. By using a treeview control rather than the beloved pages listbox it helps simplifying administrative tasks in page management. A PDF version of this KB can be found here .
To get started using the Page Admin, login to your website using your Admin account username and password. Navigate to the Admin dropdown menu and select the Pages-Admin menu item.
Here you will find a page similar to the image below (click images for larger view):
The top line of figure 1 shows that items on the left-hand side of the menu can be dragged and drop, making it much easier to move a page or group of pages all at once.
In the center section of the module you'll find several tabs,, the first of which is the Common tab. This displays the Page Name (how it's showed in the DNN menu) and the Page Title. The Page Title is what appears on the top of your browser bar and is used by browsers and search engines for bookmarking and page ordering. Note: remember to save your changes to the page using the "Update Page" in the lower right-hand corner of the module.
The image below shows the permissions for the page selected.
On the modules tab you will find a list of modules on that page. A great improvement is not that can be access and edited or deleted directly from this screen.
On the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tab, this gives you the ability to set your search engine priority ("5" is default). If you have a page that changes often, you may consider raising that to a higher number, perhaps "7". You can also add your page description (what shows up on say Google when your page comes back as a link. And also any keywords that may be associated to this pages content. For Page tags, please see these articles.
On the Meta Tags Tab you can addition meta tags for various things such as search engine verification and so on. You will like never use this tab, but its there if you need to.
On the Appearance Tab you can change a pages Skin/Theme or the containers used o that page. You may also add icon to a page, these will appear in your site menu if the skin has them enabled.
Finally, on the Links Tab, you can have a page redirect to another source. This source can be an outside web page or file, another page that's on your site or even a file on your site. The "Permanent Redirect" also known as a "301 redirect" check box tells search engines that this page has been permanently moved and should preserve your search engine rankings for that particular page.
